The scanner isn’t working
Work down this list in order. The first two account for most cases, and both are fixable at the counter in under a minute.
The camera does not open
- Check camera permission. On iPhone: Settings, then the app, then Camera. On Android: Settings, Apps, the app, Permissions.
- In a browser, look for the blocked-camera icon in the address bar and allow access, then reload.
- Camera access needs a secure connection. If you are on a browser, make sure the address starts with https.
The code will not read
- Ask the customer to turn their screen brightness up. A dim screen under café lighting is the single most common cause.
- Move to about 15–20cm away and hold still for a moment.
- A cracked screen protector or a heavily fingerprinted lens will defeat it — wipe the camera.
A stamp did not appear
Check the customer’s history on the Customers page before stamping again. Every stamp is recorded with a time, so you can see whether it went through. If it did, stamping again would give them two.
Cafeity does not work offline. If the internet is down at the counter, take the customer’s name and add the stamp when you are back online rather than guessing later.
Still stuck
Email hello@cafeity.com with your café name and roughly when it happened, and we can look at the record of what the scanner actually received.
