Understand your numbers
Most loyalty dashboards flatter you. These are the numbers worth acting on, and what each actually tells you.
The headline numbers
- Members — everyone who has ever joined. It only goes up, so it tells you very little on its own.
- Active members — people who have visited in the last 30 days. This is the number that reflects reality.
- Stamps today — a pulse check. Useful for spotting a day when staff stopped mentioning the card.
- Rewards redeemed — how many rewards you have actually handed over, and what that cost you.
Segments
- New — joined this week. Watch this after you change where the QR code sits.
- At risk — was a regular, has not visited in 30 days. This is the segment worth acting on, and it decays fast after about 60 days.
The number that actually matters
Active members as a share of total members. If you have 1,000 members and 80 active, the programme is a mailing list, not a loyalty programme. Rising active members is the only proof a stamp card is changing behaviour.
