Food trucks

Loyalty program for food trucks

A food truck's hardest problem is that it moves. You build a lunchtime following on one pitch and then you are somewhere else, and the customer who loved your food has no way to find you and no reason to look. A card on their phone is the one thing that survives the move.

The pitch changes, the card does not

Your customer keeps their balance wherever you park. The relationship stops being tied to a street corner.

A customer list you own

For a business with no premises, a list of people who have eaten your food is the most valuable asset you have.

Works with a queue and no counter

One phone, one scan. No terminal, no paperwork, no space taken up in a truck that has none.

Honest about connectivity

Stamping needs a signal. The scanner says so plainly rather than silently losing stamps at a festival.

Loyalty when there is no address

Every other trade on this site has a door customers can come back to. You do not, which inverts the problem: the card is less about rewarding repeat visits and more about being findable and memorable at all. A pass sitting in Apple Wallet with your name on it is a small permanent presence on the phone of someone who otherwise only encounters you by chance.

The connectivity question, answered honestly

Festivals, markets and car parks are exactly the places where mobile data is worst, and this is the real constraint on running a digital card from a truck. Stamping requires a connection. We do not support offline stamping because it is the easiest route to duplicated and fraudulent stamps, and the scanner tells staff plainly when a stamp did not go through instead of pretending it did. If you regularly trade somewhere with no signal, know that before you commit — a card you cannot stamp at your busiest pitch is worse than no card.

What to reward when every sale counts

Margins on street food are tight and volumes are lumpy, so a free main after ten can hurt on a bad month. A side, a drink, or an upgrade is safer and still lands. The other option a truck has that a café does not is to reward priority: skipping the queue at a busy festival is worth a great deal to a customer and costs you nothing.

Turning a crowd into a following

The data that matters for a truck is not how many stamps you gave out, it is how many people found you a second time. Because every stamp records where it was added, you can see whether the customers at Thursday's pitch are the same people as last Thursday, or a fresh crowd every week. That tells you which pitches build a following and which merely produce sales, which is the single most useful thing to know when deciding where to park.

Common questions

What if there is no signal at my pitch?
Stamping will not work, and the scanner will say so rather than quietly dropping it. A phone hotspot usually solves it. If you routinely trade with no data at all, a digital card is the wrong tool and paper is the honest answer.
How do customers find where I am parked?
The card carries your details and links back to you, so it is a route back to your own channels. It is not a location tracker — the card keeps you on their phone, and you tell them where you are.
Is one location enough if I move around?
Yes. Locations are sites you run, not places you park. A single truck is one location however many pitches it works, so you are on the $25 plan.
