Americano

An americano is espresso diluted with hot water, producing a drink of similar strength to filter coffee but with espresso’s character.

What it means for a café

The cheapest drink on most menus to produce, being one shot and water. That makes it the safest thing to put on a loyalty card: a café that cannot afford to hand over a free latte can almost always afford this one.

This page describes americano in general. It is not a description of any particular chain’s recipe, and the photograph is not of any named company’s product.
